보도자료: APIGA, 차세대 인터넷 리더 양성 10주년 기념

아시아 태평양 지역 인터넷 커뮤니티의 차세대 인재를 육성하는 청년 리더십 프로그램이 이정표를 달성했습니다.

싱가포르 – 2026년 7월 27일 – APIGA(아‧태지역 인터넷거버넌스 아카데미)가 오늘, 아시아 태평양(APAC) 지역의 인터넷 미래를 형성하는 데 기여할 차세대 청년 리더를 양성한 10주년을 기념합니다. 2016년 출범 이래 32개 경제권에서 온 359명 이상의 참가자가 아카데미를 성공적으로 수료하여 미래의 정책 입안자, 기술 전문가, 학계 인사, 시민 사회 지도자 및 인터넷 거버넌스 지도자로 성장하는 네트워크를 구축하고 있습니다.

이정표는 2026년 7월 24일 대한민국 부산에서 열린 제10회 APIGA 특별 기념 행사에서 기념되었습니다.

"인터넷의 미래는 인터넷이 모두에게 안전하고, 안정적이며, 접근 가능한 상태를 유지하도록 하는 데 기여할 차세대 리더들에게 달려 있습니다."라고 ICANN의 글로벌 이해관계자 참여 담당 선임 부사장인 샐리 코스터튼이 말했습니다. "지난 10년 동안 APIGA는 아시아 태평양 지역의 젊은 리더들에게 지식과 실무 경험을 제공하여 글로벌 인터넷 커뮤니티 내에서 적극적인 기여자가 될 수 있도록 지원해 왔습니다."

APIGA는 인터넷 거버넌스 및 인터넷 관련 주제에 초점을 맞춘 연례 5일간의 워크숍입니다. 이 프로그램은 ICANN(국제인터넷주소관리기구)과 한국인터넷진흥원이 공동 주최하며, 아시아‧태평양 지역 네트워크 정보 센터(Asia Pacific Network Information Center), DotAsia, 인터넷 협회(Internet Society)와 같은 지역 인터넷 기구들이 함께 참여합니다.

참가자들은 몰입형 대화형 교육 과정을 통해 인터넷 작동 방식과 인터넷 거버넌스의 하향식 합의 구축 모델에 대한 실무 지식을 습득합니다. 가장 중요한 점은 이 프로그램이 참가자들이 지역, 국가, 글로벌 차원의 인터넷 거버넌스 논의에 의미 있게 기여할 수 있도록 지원한다는 것입니다.

APIGA의 성과를 바탕으로, 이 프로그램은 2024년에 지역 APIGA를 출범시키며 확장되어 인터넷 거버넌스 교육을 해당 지역의 커뮤니티에 더 가까이 제공하고 있습니다. 동일한 몰입형 실습 학습 방식을 기반으로 설계된 지역 APIGA는 더 짧고 지역에 맞춤화된 프로그램을 제공하며, 지역 문제를 다루고 현지 언어로 제공될 수 있습니다. 단 2년 만에 지역 APIGA는 10개 경제권으로 확장되어 청년 참여 기회를 넓히고 인터넷 거버넌스 분야에서 지역 차원의 참여를 강화했습니다.

APIGA가 두 번째 10년에 접어들면서, 이 프로그램은 개방적이고 안전하며 안정적이고 글로벌 상호운용이 가능한 인터넷을 계속해서 형성하는 데 기여할 차세대를 양성하는 데 계속 중점을 두고 있습니다.

APIGA는 청년 참여 이니셔티브를 통해 미래 인터넷 리더를 양성하려는 ICANN의 광범위한 노력의 일환입니다. 이러한 노력에는 대학생과 초기 경력 전문가를 ICANN 공개 회의 및 인터넷 거버넌스의 다중 이해관계자 모델에 소개하는 NextGen@ICANN이 포함됩니다.

ICANN 소개

Domain Name System
Internationalized Domain Name ,IDN,"IDNs are domain names that include characters used in the local representation of languages that are not written with the twenty-six letters of the basic Latin alphabet ""a-z"". An IDN can contain Latin letters with diacritical marks, as required by many European languages, or may consist of characters from non-Latin scripts such as Arabic or Chinese. Many languages also use other types of digits than the European ""0-9"". The basic Latin alphabet together with the European-Arabic digits are, for the purpose of domain names, termed ""ASCII characters"" (ASCII = American Standard Code for Information Interchange). These are also included in the broader range of ""Unicode characters"" that provides the basis for IDNs. The ""hostname rule"" requires that all domain names of the type under consideration here are stored in the DNS using only the ASCII characters listed above, with the one further addition of the hyphen ""-"". The Unicode form of an IDN therefore requires special encoding before it is entered into the DNS. The following terminology is used when distinguishing between these forms: A domain name consists of a series of ""labels"" (separated by ""dots""). The ASCII form of an IDN label is termed an ""A-label"". All operations defined in the DNS protocol use A-labels exclusively. The Unicode form, which a user expects to be displayed, is termed a ""U-label"". The difference may be illustrated with the Hindi word for ""test"" — परीका — appearing here as a U-label would (in the Devanagari script). A special form of ""ASCII compatible encoding"" (abbreviated ACE) is applied to this to produce the corresponding A-label: xn--11b5bs1di. A domain name that only includes ASCII letters, digits, and hyphens is termed an ""LDH label"". Although the definitions of A-labels and LDH-labels overlap, a name consisting exclusively of LDH labels, such as""icann.org"" is not an IDN."
