Mission

We help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet

To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.

People

Our people are ICANN’s greatest asset

ICANN’s mission is bold: Internet stability, security, and interoperability. Each of these are critical undertakings that require creativity, consensus-building, and good old-fashioned hard work. If you’re passionate about the Internet as a force for good, you’ll fit in great here. Read what our team members have to say about working at ICANN.

I wanted to focus my legal career on matters that serve the public interest. At ICANN, we all support the same mission – ensuring that the Internet works to serve the greater good.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are a part of our DNA

Over twenty years ago, ICANN was formed to ensure all voices could participate in shaping the Internet. This model has defined us, and we live by the idea that welcoming and respecting diversity, equity, and inclusivity, is the best way to ensure the Internet remains free, open, and accessible. Within the organization, we strive to create an environment where we all respect, support, value, and celebrate each other. At ICANN:

Our hiring practices reflect the diversity of the world.
All team members are trained in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

ICANN is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate based on age, race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, marital status, veteran status, physical or mental disability, sex, (including pregnancy, gender identity and sexual orientation), childbirth or related medical conditions, family care status, genetic information or any other protected characteristics protected by law.

Work Culture

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do

ICANN’s work culture energizes all of us. It’s not something we simply write and talk about; it is something we feel. We know that creating and sustaining a positive work culture is a critical part of our success. It impacts everything, from team morale to our work with our stakeholders. Each team member plays an important role in building, improving, and growing our culture.

When our team members wake up in the morning, and log on, or arrive at the office, they know that they are part of something bigger, something extraordinary. No other organization in the world does what ICANN does. It’s a place for people who care about fostering meaningful connections and collaboration, and committing to shared values.
