ICANN spreads love, opens bosom to all (The Register)
6 August 2007 | ICANN continued its ongoing outreach efforts last week with two announcements: the establishment of an ICANN online magazine and the expansion of a pilot fellowship program oriented towards those from countries relatively underrepresented in the ICANN processes.
ICANN Featured Individual: Jacob Malthouse, Regional Liaison Canada and the Caribbean
Jacob Malthouse is Liaison for the Caribbean and Canada at ICANN Global Partnerships.
From 2003-2005 Jacob was Head of Investment for the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI). At UNEP FI he was responsible for coordinating one of the largest ever global studies of the financial materiality of environmental, social and governance Issues. The Materiality project involved twenty-one firms and produced more than 800 pages of broker research.
Following the launch of the materiality project Jacob co-founded and was a principle architect of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment. The UN PRI is now endorsed by more than six trillion US dollars in assets.
Prior to UNEP FI Jacob held positions with the Global Environmental Change and Human Security Project, the British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, and the Regional District of Comox-Strathcona. He was also foreman for a rural development project in Guyana, South America.
Jacob holds an BA in Geography and Economics from the University of Victoria. He is originally from Vancouver Island and is currently based in Los Angeles.
