I’m pleased to announce the launch of the newly redesigned Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) website, a major milestone in ICANN’s ongoing effort to modernize and improve the digital platforms that support the work of our community. This launch represents one of the most extensive Supporting Organization and Advisory Committee (SO and AC) website transformations to date, and it was made possible through close collaboration across the ccNSO community and the ICANN org.
The scale and complexity of this project far exceeded the previous SO and AC website launches, including the recent updates to the Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC) and Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) websites. The ccNSO site required more than a visual refresh; it required full reconstruction within ICANN’s Information Transparency Platform (ITP).
This effort involved the careful review, tagging, and migration of more than 8,600 pages and files, many of which had to be manually audited and assigned new taxonomy to improve search, categorization, and long-term usability. In addition to migrating existing content, the project team also created over 80 new pages to ensure that the current structure, responsibilities, and work of the ccNSO were accurately reflected.
The new ccNSO website introduces a redesigned layout and improved user experience, with enhancements, consistent with ITP, that make it easier to find and follow the work of the ccNSO. These include:
- Improved accessibility and navigation.
- New search filters for news and announcements, ccNSO at ICANN Public Meetings, council meetings, council members, correspondence, resolutions, and ccNSO members.
- Enhanced keyword search for documents and files.
- New custom taxonomy and metadata to strengthen categorization, findability, and SEO.
- The option to download search results as a CSV file.
- The ability for users with an ICANN account to subscribe to email alerts for updated or newly posted ccNSO content.
The launch of the ccNSO website is an important step in our long-term strategy to modernize all SO and AC websites within the ITP framework. My sincere thanks to the ccNSO community and ICANN org staff who contributed to this work. Their dedication helps ensure that ICANN’s digital resources continue to evolve in support of transparency, accessibility, and effective community participation.
