Looking Ahead to ICANN74

8 June 2022

The ICANN74 Policy Forum will be held 13-16 June 2022 in The Hague, Netherlands. It will be the first time in more than two years that ICANN will come together in person to discuss and advance matters that impact the technical governance of the Domain Name System (DNS). We will also celebrate the recipient(s) of the ICANN Community Excellence Award.

During the ICANN74 Policy Forum, the ICANN community will continue its work of adapting the Internet to the diverse languages and cultures of the world. This will include discussions about more new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) and Internationalized Domain Names. The ICANN community will also consider the implications of privacy legislation and regulatory developments on access to gTLD registration data. In addition, there will be work sessions focused on the security, stability, and resiliency of the DNS in light of emerging technologies.

The ICANN74 Policy Forum will be held as a hybrid event to accommodate both in-person and virtual participation. The health and safety of those attending in person is a top priority for ICANN, and in-person participants will be required to follow higher health and safety standards than may be demanded by local rules and regulations. ICANN will also continue to closely monitor relevant national and international public health guidance and cooperate with local authorities. Read about the health and safety measures and register on the ICANN74 website.

Thank you for making the considerable commitment of time and effort to engage in ICANN74 sessions. This is the first in-person ICANN Public Meeting to be held in the Netherlands since ICANN15 in December 2002, and we are excited to return. Whether you are an ICANN Public Meeting regular, an occasional participant, or a newcomer, please actively contribute. Expanding the Internet will require evolving the multistakeholder model, and ICANN is committed to leading these efforts.
