ICANN is extending its Community Childcare Grants Pilot Program to Fiscal Year 2021. The extension was made due to the remote participation-only nature of the ICANN67 and ICANN68 Public Meetings, as well as the cancelation of the 2020 GDD Industry Summit and ICANN DNS Symposium, which resulted in the childcare program not being used.
The Community Childcare Grants Pilot Program is intended to offset childcare costs that might otherwise deter a community member from attending ICANN Public Meetings and other eligible ICANN events. Grants of up to USD 750.00 per family are available to qualifying event participants who are bringing children and will incur expenses due to babysitting and/or local childcare services. The program was first implemented at ICANN66 in Montréal, Canada.
The ICANN organization recognizes that face-to-face meetings are an integral part of the community's work, and this program is part of an ongoing effort to provide as many opportunities to participate as possible.
