As a follow-up to my previous blog seeking feedback, I am pleased to announce that the Asia Pacific (APAC) Regional Plan for Fiscal Years (FY) 2021-2025 is now finalized.

I am grateful for the input provided by the APAC community over the last few months of consultations, which was submitted via email, at APAC Space sessions, and at local ICANN readouts.

The APAC Regional Plan maps our focus areas and activities against the objectives and goals laid out in ICANN's FY21-25 Strategic Plan. It was identified that the APAC regional office could contribute to four out of five of ICANN's strategic objectives:

  • Strengthen the security of the Domain Name System (DNS) and the DNS Root Server System
  • Improve the effectiveness of ICANN's multistakeholder model of governance
  • Evolve the unique identifier systems in coordination and collaboration with relevant parties to continue to serve the needs of the global Internet user base
  • Address geopolitical issues impacting ICANN's mission to ensure a single and globally interoperable Internet

Going forward, our activities and outcomes will be reported against the objectives laid out in the APAC Regional Plan. Through our consultations, we have already identified a number of activities and projects to undertake in collaboration with the wider APAC community. We look forward to working with you to implement the activities set out in the regional plan!
