Where: Warsaw University Library

Background:

The Internet is an integral part of our daily lives, but what is the Internet? Is it a messy arrangement of network connections or a system of neatly connected networks? Is it a stagnant or an evolving tool? Today's Internet provides us with new ways of accessing, interacting and connecting people and content. But the growth of the Internet also raises several questions when we attempt to determine which of its benefits we value most. Do we want unfettered access to information or privacy? What kind of balance should be achieved? What is 'net neutrality' and why should we care about it?

For the first time, Poland will play host to "The Internet today and tomorrow," a workshop on Internet Governance. During this daylong event, we will endeavor to look for the answers to these questions, and explore other questions as well. This workshop is open to anyone interested in the Internet. Please join us on 30th October 2014, at the Warsaw University Library (ul. Dobra 56/66).

This is a unique occasion to openly discuss and debate crucial matters related to the architecture that supports the Internet with national and international experts, civil servants, industry representatives, NGOs and academics.

A number of Internet community members and representatives from ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) will be participating in this event. ICANN coordinates the domain name system of the Internet and has done so since 1988.
