Acting as Point Québec the geoTLD of .quebec, we made a review of the Reference LGR for Inuktitut (ᐃᓄᒃᑎᑐᑦ) syllabic Language.
It is our understanding that the Syllabic Inuktitut repertoire described in the present LGR duly represent contemporary syllabic code points of the 7 different Canada’s Inuktitut languages / dialects[1] in Nunavik, in Nunavut and the North West Territories.
The actual Inuktitut syllabic LGR is defined in a context of a second level coexistence with the Latin script for French IDN and ASCII / English.
As a geoTLD, Point Québec recognized that in the context of multi scripts in the same zone, the cross-script variants described in this LGR provides mitigation for foreseen security and stability issues.
The review of the rules described in this Inuktitut LGR, in our opinion, gives sufficient space for the needed label space and increases security and stability concerns by contextualizing specific code points sequences, and specific cases limited usability.
It is Point Québec opinion that the Inuktitut LGR opens the door to inclusiveness for the Inuit population in the DNS and their communities for which Inuktitut syllabic script is the language.
We believe the inclusion of the Inuktitut script is a step toward the Universal Acceptance and we would like to express our deep appreciation for all the multistake parties, and the communities involved in this work in progress for an Internet for all.
