The following is a summary of discussions, actions taken, and actions identified:

  1. Approval of Minutes – The BAMC approved the minutes of the 11 October 2017 meeting.

  2. 2018 Work Plan – The BAMC reviewed the draft work plan for 2018. It was noted that a few items still need to be added to the work plan such as self-review before the work plan is circulated to the new BAMC. There are items on the work plan such as reconsideration requests and independent review process for which the date of action is dependent upon when the accountability mechanism is triggered and what actions need to be taken.

  3. Future Independent Review Process (IRP) Panels – Some members of BAMC inquired about the makeup of IRP future panels and what steps can be taken to ensure geographic diversity on the future panels. The BAMC received an update on the currently ongoing work within the IRP IOT relating to the establishment of an IRP standing panel as prescribed by the Bylaws. The standing panel will be a group of skilled panelist from which the panel for each IRP will be selected. One benefit of the standing panel is that the panelists will receive training from ICANN organization and the community on how ICANN works, which will help inform the work of the panelists in evaluating IRPs. A call for expression of interest has been drafted and work is underway to engage with the community regarding the panel selection process. The BAMC discussed that while geographic diversity is an important consideration, it is not the only consideration for selecting an appropriate panelist, which includes who has the necessary skills and experience for the particular issue at hand.
