Dear Roger,

We have received and posted your 16 July letter, written on behalf of VeriSign Registrar, concerning transfers of sponsorship of registrations between registrars.

The points made in your letter are striking and should illuminate the community's discussion of transfer issues, but many points in your letter depend on factual matters given in summary form. To permit the Internet community to give the issues raised by your letter the detailed consideration they deserve, it would be helpful if VeriSign Registrar provided the following data, in a form that can be made available to the community:

• The initial surveys, conducted in the Fall and Winter of 2000-2001.
• The more detailed, independent surveys of representative samples of customers who had recently been transferred out of the VeriSign Registrar performed by a professional market research firm as a follow-up.
