I would like to share new resources and reminders as the New Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) Program: 2026 Round application deadline of 12 August 2026 draws near.
To avoid last-minute issues, applicants are strongly encouraged to test payment processing in the TLD Application Management System (TAMS) prior to submitting their application, and to submit their applications early. The gTLD evaluation fee must be received by ICANN no later than 23:59 UTC on 19 August 2026 – seven days after the application window closes. Applicants can find details on the dedicated webpage.
In response to a request made during a recent TAMS webinar, ICANN has created a searchable library of frequently asked questions, available on the New gTLD Program website. The spreadsheet contains hundreds of questions and numerous topics, ranging from submitting the application to the various evaluation processes for different types of gTLD. The questions are pulled from those posed during public meetings, webinars, and other events and the list of topics will continually evolve.
We continue to create new capacity-development content in response to community needs, and the website is frequently updated – we recently added new pages related to the Applicant Journey, and more are on the way.
If applicants have general questions while preparing their application, they are encouraged to contact [email protected]. Once an application is submitted, applicants should use the inquiry function within TAMS to ask questions related to their application.
