The ICANN Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) met for its 2025 annual workshop in Mexico City from 15–18 September. The SSAC workshop enables our members to come together to plan our strategic goals and upcoming work for the year ahead.
Reflecting on the year since our 2024 workshop, we have seen how our efforts to drive greater engagement and transparency with the ICANN community have impacted our publications, our interactions with others within the community, and how we function. Some initiatives we are developing to meet these goals include:
- Formalizing SO/AC Outreach Strategy: Building on the success of recent outreach, SSAC is developing a strategic process for engaging with ICANN Supporting Organizations (SOs) and Advisory Committees (ACs) to ensure more effective cross-community collaboration.
- Streamlining SSAC Member Engagement: To ensure more efficient and productive work parties and improve our work culture, SSAC will be establishing a new framework for member engagement, along with more defined roles and expectations.
- Establishing an Apprenticeship Program: Beginning this year, SSAC will pilot a new program that involves early-career apprentices in the work of our experts.
- Improving Internal and External Communications: Apart from launching our SSAC LinkedIn page and creating a content strategy and calendar for external communications, SSAC is also developing internal resources to capture knowledge related to individual member expertise and skills such as chairing a work party.
- Strengthening Engagement with the ICANN organization: SSAC will seek to meet regularly with ICANN's Office of the Chief Technology Officer and the Government Engagement team to align our priorities and expertise.
In addition to dialogue with our members on how we can continue to expand our commitment to prioritize openness and collaboration, our members had the opportunity to share presentations related to their individual expertise.
As we look ahead to the coming year, we will continue to look back on what we have done, how we have grown, and where we can improve. SSAC looks forward to meeting with our colleagues across the ICANN community during ICANN84 in Dublin for joint sessions and workshops. In the meantime, we invite you to follow our work and participate in making the Internet more stable and secure.
