ICANN Policy Development Accelerator Delivers Two Primers

22 May 2024
By Melissa Peters-Allgood

Two primers developed through the ICANN Policy Development Accelerator are now available! To date, the Accelerator program has explored the history and evolution of generic top-level domain (gTLD) registration data and the history of the Applicant Support Program in the 2012 round of new gTLDs through self-paced learning modules.

Each of these primers provide a holistic overview of the respective topic, including specific contributions from across the ICANN community, and are a great resource for anyone wishing to gain greater understanding. Both primers can be found on the ICANN Policy Development Accelerator workspace.

The Accelerator program provides opportunities for newer ICANN community members to build substantive knowledge on a specific topic, while fostering value in service and relationships through connections with experienced ICANN community members. The Accelerator program is offered annually, with each class divided into two distinct terms.

The first term of each annual class is focused on a specific policy topic where participants engage with the content through self-paced learning modules, interactive group discussions with subject-matter experts, and role play exercises. The second term is a series of live workshops built from ICANN Learn courses that practice and cultivate the skills necessary for active participation in policy and advice development.

Expressions of interest for the next class of the Accelerator will open in August 2024, so stay tuned for an announcement soon.
