Have You Met the Board’s Committees?

Board committees serve an important role in preparing the Board as it deliberates and makes decisions. Established within ICANN's Bylaws, these committees can either be general, such as the Finance Committee, or topic-specific, such as the Accountability Mechanisms Committee. Each committee has its own Board-approved charter that outlines it purpose, scope, composition, and more.

ICANN's Board is made up of a diverse set of individuals, each with their own areas of expertise and unique skills. The Board's committees allow members to collaborate on topics and issues that align with their particular skill set, and the input that these committees provide is invaluable to the Board's decision-making process.

As part of our ongoing commitment to make our work more transparent and accessible, the ICANN Board is partnering with the ICANN org Communications team to launch a new webinar series called "Meet the Board Committee." Throughout the coming year, we'll be hosting a series of webinars, where we will spotlight the important work of each committee. You'll have an opportunity to hear from the members of each committee, learn more about the work they do, how they interact with the Board, and how they address issues raised by the community.

Our first webinar, scheduled for 19 April 2021, will focus on the Board Technical Committee (BTC), which supports the Board's oversight of the technical work necessary to fulfill ICANN's mission. This will be a fully interactive session, so we encourage you to come with questions and thoughts for discussion. Information on how to register is available here. We look forward to seeing you all there!
