With ICANN85 just around the corner, I thought it would be useful to highlight some new resources we've created to help prepare entities interested in applying for a new generic top-level domain (gTLD) in the New gTLD Program: 2026 Round.
The ICANN organization (org) has developed a portfolio of materials to support applicants, especially newcomers. Whether you are preparing to apply on behalf of a community, a brand, or a geographic region, you will find information to help you understand and navigate the application and evaluation processes. New materials are being developed on an ongoing basis and all are available on the New gTLD Program website.
Along with these online resources, we will be offering several sessions during ICANN85 – all designed to build your knowledge and give you the opportunity to ask questions.
On another topic, on 9 March 2026, ICANN org plans to publish the applications for the registry service provider (RSP) applicants who have cleared both technical screening and technical testing. These applications include text responses and supporting documentation. To ensure that no private information is unintentionally shared, RSP applicants were given time to review their submissions for sensitive information and resubmit their documents as needed.
I look forward to sharing more updates and information soon.
