As ICANN is less than three months away from opening the New Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) Program: 2026 Round application window on 30 April, I thought it would be useful to share a short summary of the progress being made each week.
- Over the last two weeks, ICANN org has conducted end-to-end testing of the TLD Application Management System and related processes. This critical step will help assess whether the system is functioning as intended. The team is implementing changes and improvements as a result of the testing feedback. ICANN org will continue testing over the coming weeks and will publish a detailed blog soon.
- The program hit another milestone on 5 February, when the 2026 Round Applicant Guidebook was made available in all six ICANN languages.
- The initial List of Evaluated Registry Service Providers (RSPs) was published on 30 January. As of today, a total of 29 RSPs have successfully cleared evaluation or are still undergoing evaluation. Please check the list regularly as it will be updated as applicants advance through the evaluation process.
ICANN85 is fast approaching and I encourage you to look through the many 2026 Round sessions that are designed to help community members and applicants prepare their new gTLD applications and understand the program processes.
I look forward to updating you again next week as we continue the work to launch the 2026 Round.
