Preview the ICANN and IANA FY25 Operating Plans and Budget

12 April 2024

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) published for public comment the draft ICANN FY25-29 Operating and Financial Plan, the draft ICANN FY25 Operating Plan and Budget, and the draft IANA FY25 Operating Plan and Budget from 12 December 2023 through 12 February 2024. All public comments received were thoroughly considered and no material changes were required as a result of the public comments received. However, following the Public Comment proceeding, ICANN reviewed the latest planning and financial assumptions, which is a key step in the process. As a result of this review, additional changes were made to the proposed-for-adoption ICANN FY25-29 Operating and Financial Plan and the proposed-for-adoption ICANN FY25 Operating Plan and Budget.

The plans will be posted ahead of the ICANN Board meeting in May 2024, where they will be presented to the Board for adoption. ICANN will be hosting two public webinars on 25 April 2024 for the community to preview the proposed-for-adoption plans prior to the Board meeting. ICANN will present the same information in both webinars, which are scheduled to accommodate several time zones. ICANN welcomes the community's questions and comments during this webinar.

The Board is expected to adopt the ICANN FY25-29 Operating and Financial Plan and ICANN FY25 Operating Plan and Budget in early May 2024.

Under ICANN Bylaws, after Board adoption, the Empowered Community then has the ability to reject the plans before they take effect on 1 July 2024. Another announcement will be posted after adoption by the ICANN Board.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
