The ICANN Board of Directors called for a public comment period prior to a vote to approve the set of amendments to the RAA. The 17 amendments, split into four main areas, were developed through an extensive review process. Full details can be found at http://www.icann.org/en/topics/raa/.

At the Mexico City public Board meeting, the Board adopted the following resolution:

It is resolved, that the Board agrees with the substance of the amendments, and directs staff to immediately publish them for public comments for a period of no less than 30 days, and commits to act on approval of the amendments at the earliest opportunity.

The amendments were posted on 16 December 2008 (see http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-16dec08-en.htm).

A redline of the current RAA showing all of the proposed changes is posted at: Updated Redline 2001 RAA [PDF, 116K] and a comparison chart showing both Current RAA Language and Proposed Language is posted at: Updated RAA Provisions Comparison [PDF, 40K].

In addition to these amendments, the GNSO has also agreed to review possible additional changes to the RAA and to draw up a registrant rights charter.
