ICANN Announces Staff Appointments

IDN Program Director

ICANN is pleased to formally announce the appointment of Tina Dam as IDN Program Director. In that role, Tina will direct and coordinate all activities associated with ICANN's Program to facilitate the deployment of Internationalized Domain Names in top-level domains. Tina had accepted this important responsibility earlier and had been serving in a dual role as IDN Program Director and Chief Registry Liaison while ICANN sought a suitable Chief Registry Liaison candidate.

Tina joined ICANN in 2003 as Chief gTLD Registry Liaison, where she was responsible for developing ICANN's gTLD Registry functions including defining and managing processes in accordance with consensus policies and ICANN agreements for servicing the gTLD registries.

Prior to joining ICANN, Tina worked with several companies in the DNS community, including ICANN-accredited registrar Ascio Technologies where she oversaw the development of all internal and external products and product marketing materials. Prior to her time with Ascio, Tina was Systems Architecture Engineer at Navision Software a/s, establishing the architecture design of the company's next generation of products.

Tina holds a Master of Science in Mathematics and Physics from the Aalborg University in Denmark and a BBA in Marketing Management and International Trade from Copenhagen Business School.


Chief gTLD Registry Liaison

ICANN is also pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Schwartz to the position of Chief gTLD Registry Liaison. In that role, Craig will oversee ICANN's technical coordination role in relationship to the gTLD Registries. Among other responsibilities, he will manage the review and disposition of new registry service proposals, coordinate and provide advice to the registries on contractual issues, and manage the implementation of the process for introducing new generic top-level domains.

Prior to joining ICANN, Craig spent 10 years at Widmeyer Communications, a Washington, D.C.-based public relations and strategic communications firms. Most recently Craig served as Vice President of Operations which included managing relationships with internal and external customers as well as oversight for vendor relations.

Before joining Widmeyer, Craig worked in the Public Affairs and Development Department at Youth for Understanding (YFU) International Exchange - an organization committed to fostering global understanding by facilitating student exchanges at the high school and community college levels. Craig actively conducted cross-cultural training workshops for program participants, in their home country, prior to departure to the United States.

Craig holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Maryland.
