ICANN is pleased to formally announce the appointment of Michelle Cotton as the IANA Liaison to the IETF. In that role, Michelle will direct and coordinate all activities associated with IANA's work for the IETF community including administering any agreements between the IETF and ICANN. Michelle has been acting as the IESG Liaison since the position was offered and during the search for an appropriate candidate.

Michelle joined ICANN in 2000 working mainly in the IANA department, where she has been responsible for processing all types of IANA requests including protocol parameters, TLD root-zone requests, .INT administration and numbering resource requests. With the increased staff in the IANA department over the last two years, she has been able to focus more on IETF related work. With Michelle's longevity with ICANN, she will continue to contribute a wealth of knowledge and history to the IANA team.

Her new role will strengthen IANA's service to its customers, particularly the IETF community. Michelle's appointment continues to show ICANN's commitment to serving a global Internet community.

Michelle holds a BS in Business Marketing from San Diego State University.
