Getting to Know the Nominating Committee
What does the Nominating Committee do?
The Nominating Committee (NomCom) is responsible for appointing a number of seats to the ICANN Board of Directors, the Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) Board, the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), and the Councils of the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) and the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO). NomCom delegates act only on behalf of the interests of the global Internet community and within the scope of the ICANN mission and responsibilities assigned to it by the ICANN Bylaws; they do not act in furtherance of the group that appointed them to the NomCom.

How does the Nominating Committee operate?
The NomCom consists of 18 voting delegates along with three non-voting members of the leadership team. The term for each voting delegate shall be a two-year term. No individual may serve as a delegate for more than two terms. In addition, no individual may serve in consecutive terms, regardless of the entity selecting them to the Nominating Committee. An individual will only be eligible to serve a second term as a delegate on the Nominating Committee if a minimum of two years has elapsed between the end of their first term and the beginning of the term for which they are being selected.

- 1 delegate from the Address Supporting Organization (ASO)
- 1 delegate from the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (CCNSO)
- 7 delegates total from the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO): 1 from the Registries Stakeholder Group, 1 from the Registrars Stakeholder Group, 1 from the Business Users Constituency (Small), 1 from the Business Users Constituency (Large), 1 from the Non-Commercial Users Constituency, 1 from the Internet Service Providers Constituency, 1 from the Intellectual Property Constituency, 1 from the Internet Architecture Board (IAB), and 5 from the Delegate for Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)
- 5 total delegates from the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), one from each Region (Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America)
- 1 delegate from the Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC)
- 1 delegate from the Root Server System Advisory Committee (RSSAC)
- 1 delegate from the Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC)
