The Expert Working Group on gTLD Directory Services (EWG) has been gratified by the ICANN community's robust discussion of its Final Report [PDF, 5.11 MB], which proposes an unprecedented "paradigm shift" to replace today's WHOIS system with a next generation Registration Directory Service (RDS).

The EWG welcomes every person's thoughtful analysis and feedback, and we hope everyone takes time to read the Final Report. As can be expected with such a complex topic, misconceptions have emerged about the EWG's recommendations. To address this, additional material has been posted on the EWG webpage, including a statement by EWG member Stephanie Perrin, an additional EWG statement, FAQs, and summary slides.

We hope interested community members will join us online and in person tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 25 June at 8:00 am) in London [link] to continue discussions and advance our collective journey to reinvent today's WHOIS system.
