LOS ANGELES – 9 May 2019 – Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced the Board of Directors adopted ICANN's Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) Operating Plan and Budget and updates to the Five-Year Operating Plan Update 3 May 2019. The Empowered Community, a mechanism under the ICANN Bylaws to ensure the ICANN Board and organization are accountable, has an opportunity to consider whether it will raise an objection to either or both of these documents before they go into effect.
The FY20 Operating Plan and Budget were the result of 11 months of collaboration between the ICANN org, the community, the Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) Board, and the ICANN Board's Finance Committee. These documents include:
- An overview of the key elements, cross-functional projects, and activities contained in the FY20 Operating Plan.
- A summary of six work modules planned for FY20 and a breakdown of the Operating Plan with the budget organized by strategic goal.
- A high-level five-year overview on ICANN's progress implementing its Strategic Plan.
- A detailed breakdown of the budget for each portfolio and project.
These documents will go into effect after the Empowered Community have time to consider if it will raise a petition rejecting the Budget, Operating Plans, or the Five-Year Operating Plan Update.
