The proposal to allow any government, anywhere, for any reason, to expropriate any domain name (at least .net for now) without any due process for current domain name owners is egregious. It will utterly destroy the internet by allowing any government to seize any website it wishes, for any reason. This cannot be allowed to stand and such language must be removed from the agreement between ICANN and Verisign if the internet is to survive in a recognisable form. Domain names are recognised as property in many jurisdictions and allowing expropriation without due process, or even just recompense, is an unconscionable violation of all accepted norms in multiple areas of law. This new agreement is disastrous.

Summary of Submission

Reject the ICANN-Verisign agreement because it allows governmental expropriation of domain names.
