Public Comment

Public Comment is a vital part of our multistakeholder model. It provides a mechanism for stakeholders to have their opinions and recommendations formally and publicly documented. It is an opportunity for the ICANN community to effect change and improve policies and operations.

Allowing any form of government entity to seize any domain they want is dangerous, as it will create chaos. The government will be able to take down websites containing unfavorable content, potentially trespassing on the domain owners' freedom. Many essential voices may be silenced due to this change.

I am aware that governments can still seize domains through other means, but it involves legal procedures and due processes at the very least. The ICANN and Verisgn staff should not be the ones making this decision.

Summary of Submission

I am against the proposal of allowing the government to seize any domain with .net TLD, especially when Verisign has "unlimited and sole discretion" over it.
