Public Comment

Public Comment is a vital part of our multistakeholder model. It provides a mechanism for stakeholders to have their opinions and recommendations formally and publicly documented. It is an opportunity for the ICANN community to effect change and improve policies and operations.

Other Comments

AmazonNIC, operator of the .amaazons.com domain extension, whose objective is to promote culture, commerce, tourism, sustainability and economy in the Amazon Region, formed by Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guiana (France), Peru, Suriname and Venezuela, hereby provide their comment to ICANN:

Proposals for renewal of the .NET contract:

1) Apply to the .NET gTLD and other legacy gTLDs (.COM and .ORG):

A) Prevent governments or registrars from unilaterally learning domains or taking them for themselves, without proper analysis or judgment based on the jurisprudence of the International Court of The Hague;

B) Limit price increases, as legacy gTLDs are in the public interest, and should be considered as international public goods.

2) Summary: Do not proceed with the proposal that would allow any government, country or territory, whether dictatorial or democratic, to cancel, transfer or take a domain for itself.

Also impose limitation on uncontrolled price increases.

*** I also take this opportunity to criticize the attitudes of ICANN, which has become a corrupt organization and violates the multistakeholder model.

We can cite the case of the .amazon gTLD, in which 8 South American countries + France were disrespected by ICANN.***

Finally, we do not represent governments, as we are a private company operating in the Amazon Region.
