Afnic fully supports the implementation of a policy development process (PDP) dedicated to Latin script diacritics version of gTLDs. This PDP is important to ensure that all users can access and interact with the Internet in their native language. And as stated by the OIF in their comment on this Preliminary Issue Report, the implementation of this PDP will address the longstanding need for inclusivity and equality in the digital space, particularly for regions that use diacritical characters in their geographical names, a common feature among Francophone countries. We also believe that this PDP is an important step for current and future geoTLD applying for a geographic name based in part on diacritics of the Latin script.
