CIRA is a not-for-profit organization with a core mandate to ensure the safe, stable and secure operation of the .CA domain and its underlying technologies. We also connect, protect and engage the internet community in Canada and beyond by providing registry, domain name system (DNS) and cybersecurity services.  

CIRA is a long-time advocate for Universal Acceptance and we welcome initiatives to ensure that the DNS is reflective of linguistic diversity in Canada, and globally. We recognize the importance of developing new LGRs and subsequent internationalized domain names (IDNs) to help ensure that people can navigate the internet in their own language.
