Public Comment is a vital part of our multistakeholder model. It provides a mechanism for stakeholders to have their opinions and recommendations formally and publicly documented. It is an opportunity for the ICANN community to effect change and improve policies and operations.
AFNIC welcomes the opportunity to provide comments and inputs to ICANN’s Draft Terms of Reference for the Pilot Holistic Review (PHR).
AFNIC has been following for a long time the evolution of ICANN and was a part of the creation of the Country-Code Name Supporting Organization (ccNSO) in 2022, twenty years ago as well as engaged in the IANA stewardship transition more than 6 years ago.
Ensuring accountability of the supporting organisations (SO) and Advisory Committees (AC) and improving transparency are critical concerns to improving the effectiveness of ICANN’s multistakeholder model.
AFNIC support the proposed Holistic Review. While the Term of reference could be fine tuned, we consider that the key steps outlined in the ToR to address the objectives set forth in recommendation 3.5 provide a clear approach allowing for a timely start of the pilot holistic review.
AFNIC Public Comment on Pilot Holistic Review Draft Terms of Reference. 10 November 2022
Afnic recognize the importance of this holistic review and supports the proposal.
