Public Comment is a vital part of our multistakeholder model. It provides a mechanism for stakeholders to have their opinions and recommendations formally and publicly documented. It is an opportunity for the ICANN community to effect change and improve policies and operations.
I support this proposed addition of LGRs, particularly the inclusion of the Javanese script and additional characters to accommodate Pegon writing. ICANN’s efforts to promote a multilingual Internet should be aligned with the broader objective of preserving the diversity of script resources across the world. I hope that, in the end, the consideration will not be limited to short-term economic benefits, but will also take into account the long-term development and sustainability of the industrial structure - in which represented by those two proposed expansion of LGRs.
