Webinar Invitation: PTI FY21-FY24 Strategic Plan

30 April 2020

LOS ANGELES – 30 April 2020 – The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) today announced that its affiliate, Public Technical Identifiers (PTI), invites the community to engage with Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) staff and members of the PTI Board to discuss the development of its first comprehensive strategic plan.

When the PTI board and IANA staff attended ICANN66 in Montreal, Canada, they shared a timeline for the publication of the draft strategic plan that included face-to-face engagement during ICANN67 in Cancún, Mexico. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and change to a remote participation-only meeting, we've adapted our approach and will now host two interactive webinars in parallel with a Public Comment period that is running from 20 April to 1 June 2020.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.

About PTI

Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) is an affiliate of ICANN responsible for performing the IANA functions, which include management of the DNS root zone, the global IP address space and other protocol parameters that support Internet operation. PTI was formed in 2016 following a transition of stewardship to the multistakeholder community that relies upon the IANA functions. PTI performs the IANA functions under contract from ICANN.
