Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced that the Asia Pacific (APAC) region's first Domain Name System (DNS) Forum will be conducted virtually due to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jointly organized by ICANN and MYNIC Berhad, the event will now take place from 30 March to 1 April 2022.
Themed "Beyond Technology: The Revolution of DNS," the APAC DNS Forum 2022 will feature discussions ranging from technical topics to industry trends and business opportunities, as well as the potential impacts of regulatory, policy, and technological developments on the DNS industry.
"It is unfortunate that we are unable to bring the regional community together in person for the inaugural APAC DNS Forum," said Jia-Rong Low, Vice President, Stakeholder Engagement and Managing Director, of ICANN Asia Pacific. "However, we remain hopeful that we can gather together in the later part of the year for the 75th ICANN Public Meeting, which is planned to take place in Kuala Lumpur in September."
As a pre-event, an opening ceremony will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 29 March 2022, where MYNIC is making arrangements for local participants to attend in person. The opening ceremony will also be accessible virtually.
In preparation for the event, the APAC DNS Forum 2022 is calling for session proposals. Community members are welcome to submit their proposals to corpcom@mynic.my by 28 February 2022 (Mon) 23:59 UTC. More information can be found on the event website.
Event sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Participants are welcome to register here for the Forum. The one-time registration provides access to all Forum sessions, including the pre-event monthly webinar series leading up to the actual Forum. The final pre-event webinar, titled "The Future of the DNS," is scheduled for 4 March 2022.
