ICANN80 Policy Forum Location Announced

22 June 2023

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced today that Kigali, Rwanda, has been selected as the location for the ICANN80 Policy Forum, which will be held 10–13 June 2024 at the Kigali Convention Centre.

The last ICANN Public Meeting held in Africa was in June 2019 and ICANN is looking forward to returning to the continent next year.

ICANN holds three Public Meetings each calendar year in different regions of the world to enable people from around the globe to participate in-person or online. ICANN Public Meetings are a central part of ICANN's multistakeholder model, and provide a venue for progressing policy work, conducting outreach, exchanging best practices, negotiating business deals, and interacting with members of the ICANN community, Board, and organization.

Usually comprised of more than 100 different sessions, these meetings are an important opportunity for individuals and representatives from ICANN's various stakeholder groups to introduce and discuss issues related to the ICANN policy development process. Participants may attend either in-person or remotely. Meetings are open to everyone, and registration is free.

More Information

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
