ICANN Webinars Will Provide Information About Service to Request Nonpublic Data

13 July 2023

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) organization (org) will host two webinars this month to provide information about the Registration Data Request Service (RDRS), a new service for requesting access to nonpublic registration data related to generic top-level domains (gTLDs). The webinars will provide an update on progress made on building the RDRS, including features such as bulk processing for registrars and templates for frequent requestors. The webinars will also give participants an opportunity to ask questions related to the development of the service.

All ICANN-accredited registrars, ICANN community members, and other parties who are interested in learning more about the service are encouraged to join. The webinars will be presented in English and during two time slots (you only need to register for one session). Click on one of the links below to register.

The webinar dates are:

Webinar #1: Thursday, 27 July 2023 at 01:00 UTC for 60 minutes

Webinar #2: Monday, 31 July 2023 at 15:00 UTC for 60 minutes

The RDRS will standardize the way requests for nonpublic data are made for both registrars and requestors through the use of a single platform. The new service is expected to benefit both registrars and requestors, including consumer protection advocates, cybersecurity investigators, government officials, intellectual property professionals, and law enforcement authorities, who have a legitimate interest in accessing nonpublic gTLD registration data.

The RDRS is being implemented at the direction of the ICANN Board to gather relevant data that can help inform policy decisions related to a System for Standardized Access/Disclosure (SSAD). ICANN org is currently developing the service with the aim to launch in November 2023.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
