I strongly suggest that ICANN should not open up the registration of single-character Chinese character top-level domains (TLDs) at this time. The main reasons are listed as follows:

1.   Domain names serve as identifiers in cyberspace is their natural semantic characteristics, which facilitate human memorability. However, the polyphonic and polysemic nature of Chinese characters may easily lead to user confusion. In fact, an analysis of 1.47 million internationalized domain names has revealed a large number of abuses targeting well-known domain names, including "homophone attacks" and "domain name semantic attacks". These domain name abuses are difficult to solve through technical means alone.

2.   Single-character Chinese character TLDs, due to their conciseness, are easily susceptible to being used for phishing and other malicious activities. The way single-character Chinese character TLDs are displayed in URLs may cause confusion and deception, further increasing the risks of user clicks and information leakage.

3.   Compared to two-character or three-character Chinese character TLDs, single-character TLDs will inevitably increase the space for attackers to abuse domain names, and more easily lead to disputes over ownership. It is recommended that the registration of single-character Chinese character TLDs be delayed.
