This submission strongly supports the recognition, inclusion, and advancement of Javanese Script (Aksara Jawa), Pegon Script, and Balinese Script as part of the global Internet ecosystem. These scripts are not only writing systems but also living symbols of Indonesia’s rich cultural, linguistic, historical, and intellectual heritage, representing communities that have contributed to the diversity of human civilization for centuries.
Indonesia is home to one of the world's largest and most diverse linguistic populations. Enabling these scripts in digital technologies, including Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs), promotes meaningful digital inclusion for millions of people and helps ensure that local languages and cultural identities remain visible and relevant in the digital age. The Internet should reflect the diversity of its users, and support for these scripts is an important step toward a more multilingual and representative online environment.
We believe that the development and adoption of Javanese, Pegon, and Balinese scripts will contribute to cultural preservation, education, research, and community engagement. It will also encourage future generations to learn, use, and maintain these traditional writing systems while participating fully in the global digital economy.
