ICANN Introduces New Website

26 March 2007

Comment on the new ICANN website at the ICANN Blog

ICANN today introduces a new website with better navigation and new features.

"ICANN is committed to being more transparent and accessible" said Paul Levins, ICANN's Executive Officer and Vice President, Corporate Affairs. "Reform of our website is a key part of that commitment."

The site has a new, more useable navigation system and an improved look and feel.

"Importantly, we have included a button in the top navigation that allows people to understand our processes and their timelines more clearly. We have also included a graphical representation of those processes that show where a particular policy discussion or program is on its timeline" Mr Levins said. "This should provide greater certainty and definition and allow people to understand how a decision was made or what stage of development a policy or program is at".

Any existing bookmarks should still resolve properly because no links have been broken.

The improvement to the website comes in addition to a range of other initiatives taken to inform, be more open and to engage in dialogue with the community. Those include, more comprehensive reporting of Board meeting discussions, a public participation site which allows for remote participation at ICANN meetings, a frequently updated blog, immediate email alerts as announcements break, a weekly newsletter and comprehensive factsheets on topics of interest.

"All these measures help us to be more accountable to the community. There will be further improvements in the future." Mr Levins said.
