Public Comment

Public Comment is a vital part of our multistakeholder model. It provides a mechanism for stakeholders to have their opinions and recommendations formally and publicly documented. It is an opportunity for the ICANN community to effect change and improve policies and operations.

Public Comment on the Derecognition of RIRs I strongly support the principles outlined regarding the derecognition of Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), particularly the focus on remedial bias and the handoff process. It is crucial that ICANN, along with other RIRs, offers comprehensive support to any RIR facing compliance issues with ICP-2. This proactive approach ensures that RIRs have a fair opportunity to address and resolve problems before the derecognition process is initiated. Equally vital is the requirement for a seamless handoff process. In cases of derecognition, it is essential for the affected RIR to collaborate with ICANN and other RIRs to ensure the smooth transition of operations to a successor or interim entity. This will help preserve stability, continuity, and confidence in the global Internet governance framework. By establishing a clear and structured approach to derecognition, these provisions safeguard the integrity of the RIR system while providing the necessary support for remediation and transition. This approach will allow the community to maintain a strong, effective network management structure. Thank you for considering this critical aspect of the derecognition process. I look forward to further discussions on this important matter.
