As a registrar and hosting company rooted in Québec, where we proudly promote and sell the .Quebec TLD, we strongly support moving forward with a Policy Development Process (PDP) to address Latin script diacritics in domain names.
WHC understands the importance of protecting and promoting language representation online, particularly in regions like ours with a rich linguistic and cultural landscape. Managing accented and non-accented versions of domain names effectively is crucial—not only to prevent confusion but also to enhance representation. Universal acceptance and inclusivity are key to building a more accessible web for everyone.
Both the .Quebec and .CA TLDs have already shown how language variants can be handled successfully on the second level, and we believe this PDP can help set the standard for further progress. We advocate for the simultaneous delegation of IDN gTLDs and their ASCII counterparts, allowing greater flexibility for registrants without compromising language integrity.
