Public Comment is a vital part of our multistakeholder model. It provides a mechanism for stakeholders to have their opinions and recommendations formally and publicly documented. It is an opportunity for the ICANN community to effect change and improve policies and operations.

GeoTLD Group welcomes the effort carried out in this Preliminary Issue Report and thanks the ICANN Policy Support Staff for the time committed and the clarity this provides to the discussion.
This issue has been raised repeatedly in the past by many individuals and organisations that are active in the ICANN community, having committed their time and dedication in helping identify this issue as an important one to advance towards a real multilingual Internet where all scripts, and in this case, languages using the Latin script in one of its many current versions with Diacritics, can be found on the same footing as English.
We believe that this PDP should pave the way to a long-awaited solution for the issues discussed in the Report, of great relevance for current Registry Operators and future applicants considering linguistic and/or cultural TLDs using Latin script languages other than English.
