I welcome the opportunity to share my support for the continued development of Reference Label Generation Rules for scripts used in Internationalized Domain Names. In my view, the work on Javanese and Pegon Script LGRs is a meaningful contribution to making the Domain Name System more reflective of the diversity of Internet users. Many communities interact with the Internet through languages, scripts, and cultural contexts that are different from those most commonly represented online. For this reason, IDN-related work should continue to give space to writing systems that are locally significant and community-supported. The Javanese and Pegon Script proposals also show the importance of careful coordination between linguistic knowledge and technical requirements. A script may carry strong local meaning, but its use in domain names must still be supported through rules that are clear, consistent, and compatible with DNS security and stability. I appreciate that this process provides a structured way to review those considerations. I also value ICANN’s Public Comment process because it allows individuals and communities to contribute views in an open and transparent manner. This is especially important for topics related to multilingualism and digital inclusion, where input from different regions and backgrounds can help improve the quality of policy and implementation outcomes. I support the continued publication and refinement of script LGRs that help expand the practical use of Internationalized Domain Names while maintaining trust in the global DNS.
