IDN Variants – Implementation of Label Generation Rules Procedures

Description: The Board has directed staff to implement the Procedure to Develop and Maintain the Label Generation Rules for the Root Zone in Respect of IDNA Labels [PDF, 772 KB], including updating the gTLD Applicant Guidebook and IDN ccTLD Process to incorporate the Label Generation Rules for the Root Zone in Respect of IDNA Labels in the respective evaluation processes. Proposed Model for gTLD Data Directory Services
Originating Organization: Expert Working Group on gTLD Directory Services (EWG) Est'd Timeframe: September 2013
Description: The EWG was formed in early 2013 to lay the groundwork for a next generation gTLD directory service to replace today's WHOIS system. The group is meeting throughout this calendar year and is expected to produce a Proposed Model for gTLD Data Directory Services for community review and comment. If such a model is produced it is likely to be published after the ICANN Public Meeting in Durban.

Accountability & Transparency Review Team 2 Draft Recommendations
Originating Organization: Accountability and Transparency Review Team 2 Est'd Timeframe: October 2013
Description: Per the Affirmation of Commitments, ICANN is expected to organize a review of its execution of the organization's accountability and transparency commitments no less frequently than every three years. The Review Team most recently formed to conduct this effort (ATRT 2) is currently conducting its work. By October 2013 the review team expects to have draft recommendations ready for community review and comment leading up to the ICANN Public Meeting in Buenos Aires.
