CodyCorp Domains Transferred to eNom

An estimated 22 domain names previously sponsored by registrar CodyCorp.com Inc. have been transferred to ICANN-accredited registrar eNom, Inc. following the termination of CodyCorp's registrar accreditation agreement.

Customers of CodyCorp should contact eNom for continued management of their names. There will be no cost to the registrants for this transfer.

CodyCorp’s accreditation expired and was not renewed by ICANN due to multiple uncured breaches of its accreditation agreement, which are described at http://www.icann.org/correspondence/burnette-to-bahlitzanakis-24dec09.pdf [PDF, 53 KB]. ICANN initiated the De-Accredited Registrar Transition Procedure [PDF, 119 KB] to identify a gaining registrar to receive a bulk transfer of the names formerly managed by CodyCorp. As part of that process, CodyCorp proposed that eNom be selected as gaining registrar. ICANN approved the proposed bulk transfer.

Q. Why did ICANN authorize the bulk transfer?

A. CodyCorp’s Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) expired and was not renewed by ICANN due to RAA compliance issues. As a result, CodyCorp is no longer permitted to register or manage gTLD registrations. In order to protect the customers of CodyCorp, ICANN initiated the De-Accredited Registrar Transition Procedure (posted at http://www.icann.org/en/processes/registrars/de-accredited-registrar-transition-procedure-01oct08.pdf [PDF, 53 KB]) and determined that this bulk transfer would promote the community interest.

Q. What should current/former CodyCorp customers do?

A. Registrants should contact eNom as soon as possible to begin managing their names and to avoid any unintended non-renewal of their domains.

Q. Do registrants have to pay a fee for the bulk transfer?

A. No, there is no cost to registrants for the bulk transfer. Unlike a normal inter-registrar transfer, the length of registration terms will not be extended by a year. Accordingly, it is important to contact eNom if your registration will expire soon in order to maintain your registration.

Q. What if former CodyCorp customers want to use a different registrar?

A. Registrants may be able to transfer their registrations to other registrars under the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy (see http://www.icann.org/en/transfers/) after establishing their accounts with eNom. Note that eNom may deny transfers for the first 60 days following the bulk transfer, at eNom's discretion. This 60-day period is permissible under the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy, and is intended to help protect registrants. Names that will expire during the first 60 days following the transfer to eNom should be renewed by the registrant by contacting eNom using the contact information available at: http://www.internic.net/registrars/registrar-48.html.
