The following is a summary of discussions, actions taken and actions identified:
- Committee Slating – The BGC discussed the Board Committees and Working Group slates based upon, among other things, the preferences indicated by the Board members. The Committee also discussed BGC membership guidelines and whether first year Board members can be BGC members, which is a departure from past practice. Upon discussion, the Committee determined that going forward there should not be a prohibition on first year Board members from serving on the BGC. The Committee also engaged in a discussion regarding term limits for Board Committee chairs. The Committee agreed that it will report the substance of the discussion to the Board, and will continue discussing the matter at its next meeting. The BGC also agreed to further evaluate the number and size of Board Working Groups and Caucuses. The BGC approved the slate that the Committee will be recommending to the Board for approval.
Guidance to 2020 Nominating Committee (NomCom) - The Committee Chair indicated that she will circulate a note via email to the Committee on the Board 2020 skillsets guidance to the NomCom, and that the Committee will find a time in Montreal during ICANN 66 to meet on the matter.
- Action: BGC Chair to circulate a note via email to the Committee on the Board 2020 skillsets guidance to the NomCom and will try to find a time for the BGC to discuss in Montreal.
