Göran Marby is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). He leads the ICANN organization’s public interest efforts to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. Appointed in 2016, he has over 20 years of experience as a senior executive in the Internet and technology sector.
Before taking his position at ICANN, Göran was the Director General at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), an independent regulatory body, where he worked closely with international organizations and standards bodies. He chaired the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP) and was a member of the Swedish Broadband Commission.
Prior to this, he served as CEO and founder of AppGate, a Swedish security software company, where he grew the organization to a global company with customers in 35 countries. He has also served as CEO for the advanced networks company Cygate Group and as Country Manager for multinational tech giant, Cisco, in Sweden.
Göran earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Gothenburg School of Business, Economics, and Law. He is fluent in English and Swedish and is a Swedish national.
