Stats on the past five months’ deleted blog comments
So we have been running stats on the number of blog comments we have deleted each month in the interests of openness for a year now.
You may have noticed however that we have not posted monthly stats since October. Why not? Well, we’re delighted to say that’s because we haven’t deleted any comments from people in the community in the past five months.
We have deleted alot of automated spam comments however. And the situation has became so irritating that we have started ending comments and trackbacks on posts more than a month old.
So below are the stats for spam deleted over those months:
Month | Spam comments deleted
November | 8
December | 20
January | 12
February | 65
March | 49
While this has been going on, we have continued to see a gradual increase in readers and in comments (accounting for the huge jump in comments over the RegisterFly saga).
So why the sudden posting now?
Well, we deleted three comments from one individual in March, which under our breakdown of reasons for deleting comments we would designate “Irrelevant/nonsense”.
We hope we rapidly slip back into not deleting anything but spam comments.
