RSSAC通过对《根服务器的服务期望》和《根服务器系统衡量标准》的建议

在2014年11月20日举行的例行会议中,根服务器系统咨询委员会(RSSAC)通过了就RSSAC重组结构一题所提出的两份正式建议:"RSSAC001"和"RSSAC001"。

在"RSSAC001"中,RSSAC描述了根服务器提供的最佳实践服务,并确定了用户对服务和根服务器运营商的合理运营期望。本文强调在根服务器系统中要注重多样化。本文与互联网架构委员会(IAB)即将发布的《意见征询》(参见下文)将替代此前出台的一项规定根服务器运营商需要遵守的一系列协议和服务期望的指令(RFC 2010、RFC 2870)。

在RSSAC002中,RSSAC认识并提议了一套初始参数,可用于监控建立一套根服务器系统的服务基准和趋势。根服务器运营商推行这些衡量标准(及后续修订标准)将有助于构建一套预警系统,帮助探测并缓和因根域规模扩大所带来的影响(或因未带来任何影响所造成的问题)。一套统一的数据搜集要求将有助于识别因根域规模扩大或因DNS和互联网的其他变革而可能对DNS根服务器系统的正常运营带来挑战的各种变化。

RSSAC002现已发布在RSSAC出版发行网页上。RSSAC001则将与IAB即将发布的补充性《意见征询》同时发布,规定DNS根名称服务协议和部署要求(如需查看草案文件请点击此处)。

这类文件现作为技术社群,特别是根服务器运营商的一般性指导文件。根据其章程的规定,RSSAC需要同根服务器运营商组织共同合作部署建议的实施,并制定一份《状态报告》向社群进行汇报。

Internationalized Domain Name ,IDN,"IDNs are domain names that include characters used in the local representation of languages that are not written with the twenty-six letters of the basic Latin alphabet ""a-z"". An IDN can contain Latin letters with diacritical marks, as required by many European languages, or may consist of characters from non-Latin scripts such as Arabic or Chinese. Many languages also use other types of digits than the European ""0-9"". The basic Latin alphabet together with the European-Arabic digits are, for the purpose of domain names, termed ""ASCII characters"" (ASCII = American Standard Code for Information Interchange). These are also included in the broader range of ""Unicode characters"" that provides the basis for IDNs. The ""hostname rule"" requires that all domain names of the type under consideration here are stored in the DNS using only the ASCII characters listed above, with the one further addition of the hyphen ""-"". The Unicode form of an IDN therefore requires special encoding before it is entered into the DNS. The following terminology is used when distinguishing between these forms: A domain name consists of a series of ""labels"" (separated by ""dots""). The ASCII form of an IDN label is termed an ""A-label"". All operations defined in the DNS protocol use A-labels exclusively. The Unicode form, which a user expects to be displayed, is termed a ""U-label"". The difference may be illustrated with the Hindi word for ""test"" — परीका — appearing here as a U-label would (in the Devanagari script). A special form of ""ASCII compatible encoding"" (abbreviated ACE) is applied to this to produce the corresponding A-label: xn--11b5bs1di. A domain name that only includes ASCII letters, digits, and hyphens is termed an ""LDH label"". Although the definitions of A-labels and LDH-labels overlap, a name consisting exclusively of LDH labels, such as""icann.org"" is not an IDN."
