ICANN has authorized the bulk transfer of Lead Networks Domains Pvt. Ltd.’s gTLD domain names to Answerable.com (I) Pvt. Customer questions about the transfer should be directed to Answerable.com, using the contact details provided below. Additional information about this bulk transfer of domain names of Lead Networks is also provided below.

FAQs

Q. Why was this transfer authorized by ICANN?

A. At the request of the receiver appointed by the United States District Court for the Central District of California in the action titled Verizon California Inc., et al v. Lead Networks Domains Private Limited et al, ICANN has agreed to terminate the Lead Networks accreditation effective 19 August 2010. Lead Networks will no longer be permitted to register or manage gTLD registrations once the termination becomes effective. In order to promote the community interest, ICANN has authorized this bulk transfer to Answerable.com.

Q. How was the gaining registrar selected?

A. Under Part B of ICANN’s Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy (see http://www.icann.org/en/transfers/policy-en.htm), and Section 3 of ICANN’s De-Accredited Registrar Transition Procedure (see http://www.icann.org/en/processes/registrars/de-accredited-registrar-transition-procedure-01oct08.pdf [PDF, 119 KB]), ICANN is authorized to approve a de-accredited registrar’s request to designate a “gaining registrar” to receive a bulk transfer of its gTLD names if ICANN determines it is in the community interest to do so. Lead Networks requested ICANN to authorize this bulk transfer to Answerable.com. After weighing all the considerations under the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy and De-Accredited Registrar Transition Procedure, ICANN approved this bulk transfer.

Q. Will Answerable.com attempt to contact the affected registrants? What should current/former Lead Networks customers do?

A. Former customers of Lead Networks should receive a notice of the transfer and instructions for continued management of their names from Answerable.com. Q. Do registrants have to pay a fee for the bulk transfer?

A. No, there is no cost to registrants for the bulk transfer. Unlike a normal inter-registrar transfer, the registration terms will not be extended by a year. Accordingly, it is important to contact Answerable.com if your registration will expire soon in order to maintain your registration.

Q. Why do former Lead Networks customers need to contact Answerable.com?

A. Lead Networks did not forward billing information to Answerable.com. Accordingly, all registrants must provide updated billing information or transfer their names to other registrars.

Q. What if former Lead Networks customers want to use a different registrar?

A. Registrants will continue to be able to transfer their registrations to other registrars under the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy (see http://www.icann.org/en/transfers/). Note that Answerable.com may deny transfers for the first 60 days following the bulk transfer, at its discretion. This 60-day period is permissible under the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy, and is intended to help protect registrants.
