Board Global Relationships Committee (BGRC) Minutes 23 May 2012

BGRC Attendees: Chris Disspain, Bertrand de La Chapelle, Gonzalo Navarro – Chair, George Sadowsky, and Kuo-Wei Wu

Other Board Attendees: Steve Crocker, Bill Graham and Mike Silber

Staff Attendees: Akram Atallah – Chief Operating Officer, Rodrigo de la Parra – VP, Latin America, Elise Gerich – VP, IANA, Jamie Hedlund – VP, North America, Nigel Hickson – VP, Europe, John Jeffrey – General Counsel and Secretary, Kurt Pritz – Senior VP, Stakeholders Relations, Jeannie Ellers, Diane Schroeder, Amy Stathos, Alina Syunkova and Nick Tomasso

The following is a summary of discussions, actions taken and actions identified:

  1. Action Plan Re: Involvement with Organizations – The Committee discussed the action plan developed in relation to ICANN's involvement with global organizations that have some Internet focus and how to proceed in light of upcoming events.

    • Action:

      • Committee to review by next Wednesday and send thoughts on the Action Plan via email by next Wednesday.

  2. Asia Pacific Meeting – Staff provided information to the BGRC relating to the upcoming meeting in the Asia Pacific regions in 2013.

  3. Internationalization Survey – The committee discussed next steps now that results have been compiled and organized. The committee discussed the value of the results, and determined that it should present the results to the full Board for discussion and consideration before moving forward.

    • Actions:

      • BGRC chair will send email to Board Chair indicating that it will request direction from the Board on how the BGRC should to proceed further with the survey or if the Board will handle it going forward.
